A really strong storyline and great book overall!

The Undertaking Of Hart And Mercy
by Megan Bannen

I read this because it was compared to Howl's Moving Castle. There was more of the typical romance tone, but it did okay in the fairy tale/horror realm. The characters were likable and varied, but still had some tropes.

Another page turner in the Inspector Gamache series.

The Whittiers
by Danielle Steel

This book was interesting, but not a favorite. The storytelling was a bit stilted trying to work all the family issues into a narrative. I liked the characters and the portrayal of a supportive family, but it was more than a little too contrived.

Alcatraz Versus The Knights Of Crystallia
by Brandon Sanderson

View in Library Catalog

A very entertaining continuation of the tales of Alcatraz vs. the evil librarians (third book). The book is peppered with entertaining interludes where the author/narrator speaks directly with the reader. The characters are well developed and their behavior is consistent across the first 3 books. Their relationships continue to grow. This is an excellent book for young people, especially those who are reluctant readers.
